Indiana University Health’s new flagship hospital in downtown Indianapolis will feature three multi-story inpatient towers that could rise as high as 16 floors on the health system’s sprawling campus along 16th Street, undergoing a 44-acre expansion. Together the three towers can hold up to 672 private patient rooms and if necessary, IU Health could add a fourth tower to the south, IU Health officials said in a news release. A rooftop terrace and dual helipads will sit atop the facility.

The new $1.6 billion facility, which will take the place of both Methodist and University hospitals, will stand on the southwest corner of 16th Street and Capitol Avenue and take four to five years to build.
